Alexandria 350 is a group of volunteer activists committed to increasing awareness of climate change and its effects, promoting 100% use of renewable energy, creating clean-energy jobs and working on other local and state issues of concern to City of Alexandria and Fairfax County residents.

Alexandria 350 is a local 350.org climate action group with members mostly in the City of Alexandria and Fairfax County.

That “350 ppm” is where 350.org gets its name. “PPM” stands for “parts per million,” which is simply a way of measuring the ratio of carbon dioxide molecules to all of the other molecules in the atmosphere. Many scientists, climate experts, and progressive national governments agree with Dr. Hansen that 350 ppm is the “safe” level of carbon dioxide.

What is the current ratio of carbon dioxide molecules to all of the other molecules in the atmosphere?

It was measured as 409 in May 22, 2017. Let's get real --- we're in the midst of a crisis at present. If you found out that you had cancer and it was close to terminal, what would do? That's what we all should be thinking about now. Most of us would drop everything and make getting healthy again and surviving our #1 priority.

Alexandria 350 is one of several local action group in DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia). There are other 350 groups in NoVA including 350 Arlington, 350 Fairfax and 350 Loudoun. We are trying to work closely with other local environmental groups including the Sierra Club. Yes we march to our drummers in Alexandria, Virginia so we are named Alexandria 350, but that differentiates us from 350 Alexandria in Egypt!
