Pierce County is part of the greater Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Metropolitan region, second in the state in population, with Tacoma as the county seat. Predominately a blue-collar region, the county in recent years experienced an influx of those escaping higher housing prices in neighboring King County; the county is currently seeing its politics and values change with the current population shift. Where the revolution flows and policy reigns! We've got the people, let's take the power! Our goals, our rules! The pulse of Pierce! Solidarity! 'Our Revolution will reclaim democracy for the working people of our country by harnessing the transformative energy of the “political revolution.” Through supporting a new generation of progressive leaders, empowering millions to fight for progressive change and elevating the political consciousness, Our Revolution will transform American politics to make our political and economic systems once again responsive to the needs of working families.' Our Revolution, National Chapter Our Revolution - Pierce County expands on the idea that a government of the people, should be by the people. Our focus as an organization working and operating in Pierce County is to support grassroots campaigning of local candidates, educating the electorate on local races and issues that affect our daily lives, and building a coalition of citizens so that all voices are heard and understood. Candidates, plain and simple, should not be bought and paid for by the corporate elite. It is our mission to support progressive candidates that follow the rule of thumb, of not accepting campaign contributions from corporations and the like. Real democracy begins and ends with you, the voter. Candidates who put the voter first are who we aim to support.
