United Communities Against Trump's America

We invite friends, relatives, neighbors, and community members to unite in peaceful, committed opposition to the policies of the Trump administration. Some of us have decided to open up a discussion among our friends, neighbors, and local community members about how we might be most effective at taking action together to oppose the president-elect's policies that we find unacceptable. Of course, we know that we can (and will) affiliate ourselves with national groups such as the ACLU, the Anti-Defamation League, or the Sierra Club; however, we think that it would be helpful to address concerns of people in our neighborhoods, among our friends, and in our local communities. What I am hoping is that people can use this page to * multiply * any action to resist DT's policies (whether it is a letter, signing a petition, a phone call to a politician, a donation, etc.) on a particular issue that is urgent. Even if three people decide to act together on a particular issue, that means each of us has 3x the voice. We might also consider having small discussion groups about particular issues via Skype. We would then prioritize issues based upon discussion and consensus. Participating on this page does * not * commit anyone to anything. It is just a way to get people together to find common ground to take * democratic measures * to resist DT's policies that negatively affect us. It is * highly unlikely * that this would ever be an issue, but it is important to say nonetheless that we have * zero interest * in anyone who wants to take action that does not use the civil and democratic processes afforded us by the US Constitution: discussion, donations, signing petitions, letter writing, phone calls, or - for only those interested (if a situation arises that justifies it) - support visits to someone in need, or peaceful demonstrations. Those of us who started this group * aggressively oppose * any action taken outside that framework. It seems to us that a Trump administration is best opposed 'neighborhood by neighborhood' and 'community by community'.
