Fossil Free GW is the call for university divestment of the fossil fuel industry. It's time for GW to get its endowment OUT of harmful investments. It's time to have a REAL impact on climate change. It's time to make history. Fossil Free GW is the call for university divestment of the fossil fuel industry. It's time for GW to get its endowment OUT of harmful investments. It's time to have a REAL impact on climate change. It's time to make history. Successfully achieving university divestment from the fossil fuel industry is most likely the greatest affect on climate change we can have as individual college students. As colleges nation-wide alter their investment strategies to better our environment impact, GW maintains harmful ties with industries that are some of the biggest contributors to rapidly increasing climate change. We exist to demonstrate that the George Washington University's student body is willing to sacrifice a fraction of today's profits for tomorrow's future. Our goals for GW are: ⁃ Place an immediate, permanent moratorium on new investments of endowment funds in fossil fuel companies. ⁃ Research and publicly announce, within 3 months, the amount of endowment funds currently invested in fossil fuel companies. ⁃ Create and implement a 2-year timeline to divest GW's endowment completely from the Filthy Fifteen. ⁃ Create and implement a 5-year timeline to divest GW's endowment completely from all fossil fuel companies. ⁃ Create and implement a strategy to reinvest funds from the endowment in the green economy.
