Grass roots effort to advocate and promote 'Medicare for All' as the only sensible way to assure that all Americans have access to adequate healthcare. It has been a goal for many of us to promote Medicare for All ever since Bernie first started to put it on the national stage. A little over two weeks ago, a small group of us decided to do a Medicare for All float in the Harvard Milk Days Parade on June 3. A lot of people thought we were nuts to do this in arguably by the reddest corner of McHenry County. To everyone's surprise, we received a lot of cheers and thumbs up from the people along the parade route. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1865942853670175.1073741829.1860307304233730&type=1&l=0266ffef01 We thought doing a parade might be just a one time thing, but everyone was fired up and said we have to keep doing this. So on June 4th, Medicare for All - McHenry County was born. As news of our parade float spead beyond McHenry county (a northwest suburb of Chicago), our group decided to spread our activism to the surrounding area so we are now Medicare for All - Northern Illinois. The goal of our groups is to educate our conservative friends on why Medicare for All makes sense as the answer to providing affordable healthcare to all Americans. Without the support of the 40% of Americans that do not yet support single-payer, it will not succeed. We need overwhelming voter pressure from both side of the aisle to both sides of the aisle.
