Orlando for Bernie Sanders becomes Orlando for Revolution after Launch of “Our Revolution” Orlando, Florida — September 6th, 2016 — Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders may have come up short in seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, but supporters all across America have pledged to continue the political revolution. One of the online forces that played a significant role in advocating for Senator Sanders in the Central Florida region, Orlando for Bernie Sanders, is launching a new grassroots organization called Orlando for Revolution. Although not formally an extension of Our Revolution, Orlando for Revolution shares the same goals: “to revitalize American democracy, empower progressive leaders and elevate the political consciousness.” Activist/organizer Ricky Ly believed that Bernie Sanders “truly cared about the people” and plans to continue support “by fighting for progressive democratic nominees up and down the ballot and to work to defeat Donald Trump.” The group plans to utilize social media and work with other grassroots organizations throughout the Central Florida region for real progressive change and focus on issues including, but not limited to the climate crisis, income and wealth inequality, police brutality, corrupting influence of money in politics, college tuition, racism, criminal justice reform, women’s rights, LGBTQ equality, and Medicare for All. Ricardo Williams, Founder of Orlando For Revolution said in a statement, “Since Florida is a swing state, it is incredibly important to have one of its largest regions informed on the issues and have progressive candidates supported in the struggle for economic, social, racial, and environmental justice.” ###
